Hey - come across a problem where I configured a role, assigned it to a bunch of workflows, and then was told by the business that the role name needs to be changed. Obviously I could create a new role and reassign every workflow to that new role, but does Semarchy allow for the easier way to update the previous name?

Unfurtunatly not posssible.
The role Name is readOnly when is created and not able to edit it.
Also, you need to create a new role and affect it where you need to use it :
