why would 2 masters belong to the same group if they don't match ?

I don't understand why these records are reconciled with each other, no rules should apply. But there is one same match group.

When no rules should make master records merged, but they belong to the same golden, this could be because-
  • A merged with B who merges with C etc... transitive merging is possible
  • UM values have forced them to merge (SQL or user merge from the UI)
  • They used to merge because of a previous rule or previous values of the master and our tool never splits records that used to merge
